Takes the guesswork out of swimsuit making

I never thought I'd make a swimsuit but now I don't think I'll ever buy one again!! I think one thing that made me much more confident about 'diving' into this project (haha!) was having made my own underwear using the WBM hipster pattern. I made this suit to wear around my parents on vacation, where we'll be visiting some hot springs, and I didn't want to have to worry about coverage in the bottom half while in close quarters.

One thing I was worried about was making sure that the suit would be the right length, but the pattern has a foolproof method for taking your torso measurement and adjusting the pattern to your torso length. That was very reassuring, and it worked! I added lining in the front since my fabric is white and also added soft cups in the cup portion. I am an A or almost A cup and the pattern has two different cup sizes (A/B and C/D) to choose from.

I chose the boycut bottom with bands for maximum coverage. I think this will also be the suit I wear when I go kayaking or do other water sports so I don't have to worry about exposing too much and can move with freedom. This suit has four choices for the leg opening cut (just like the underwear).

The fabric is a textile designed by my friend and artist extraordinaire, Julia Allisson Cost (juliacost.com).
